Long time, no see: Life update
So it’s been almost eight months since I last tuned in to my blog. Of course, I have failed in my attempt to produce one post per week (lame). So why tune in now? Well, boredom might be one of the main driving factors. Also, a few things have changed during these last months so I wanted also to reflect on them. Nowadays I am back at work but I’m injured. I also quit my job and have started a new adventure at Minsait, Indra’s consultancy.
This post is a general update on my life and goals and will serve as a sneak peek at the content you might see in the foreseeable future. As Neil and Tobey from Morning Brew say, let’s ride!
Fitness
This year has been marked by two injuries I’ve suffered while practicing sports: one ski accident and a sprained ankle while running. These events have kept me away from the gym and from practicing any physical exercise, which had been one of my main driving escape valves. This situation had a painful toll on my mental health since sports had very positive results on my overall well-being.
Now I’m fully recovered from my skiing accident and still in recovery from my sprained ankle. My objective is to be able to run Barcelona’s half marathon on the 16th of February, we’ll see. Another goal is to increase my consistency in the gym and achieve a more balanced routine taking into account strength training, cardio fitness, and mobility training. These pillars have been extracted from a recent book that I read called Outlive by Dr. Peter Attia. I will be writing further about this topic since I’ve found great joy in starting a fitness journey based on longevity.
Career
As mentioned in the introduction, I’ve resigned from my job as an experienced senior Cybersecurity Consultant at Deloitte to pursue a new career in another company. I want to shift my professional profile from a cybersecurity consultant with some glimpses in strategy, to a strategic consultant with deep knowledge in cybersecurity. If I succeed, I will be able to provide fully comprehensive consulting services to a client to align its cybersecurity goals with the business needs, going as far as prescribing the actual configurations they need while having a deep understanding bout the business.
Books
The book reviews shall go on! And because it helps me retain the value I get from reading those books, they will become a priority. I have currently finished the following books that I want to reflect on them:
- The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson
- Outlive by Dr. Peter Attia
- Everything Is Fucked: A Book About Hope by Mark Manson
And I’m currently reading:
- Elon Musk by Walter Isaacson
- Why We Sleep by Mathew P. Walker
And I still have a backlog of books I want to read and reflect on so, stay tuned for that.
Opera
This was one of the early topics of this blog and I’m happy to report that, after a year of barely any attendance, I’ll be coming back to the opera and attempting, once more, a perfect season (not missing any show). Currently, I’m one for one so happy and out to a great start. But with all this thinking, and life being live, I do not put high hopes on being able to pull it off.
Other shenanigans
I have recently put my eye on certain random topics that might be of use to others and gathered information that I would like to digest and centralize. These are:
- How Avios work and how to transfer them
- How to maximize the returns with debit and credit cards (in Europe)
- Best podcasts to stay in tuned with bussiness news (my personal routine)
- And more…
TL;DR
The blog is back again, without a blacklog of content but with high hopes of being now a success. So sit back, relax, and enjoy this new chapter of this book.
